Satan Sam

Well, this isn't exactly about the game, but it was how I was intorduced in the first place.

satansam.co.uk belongs to indie games developer James Whitehead, who's in the middle of making another game for the PC, and 360. He's also made a few other games worth trying.

Skulltag is a port for the original Doom and Doom II by id Software. Skulltag brings the classic Doom into the 21st century; maintaining the essence of what has made Doom great for so many years, and at the same time adding new features to modernize it, and create a fresh, fun new experience.

Here's why you should play Skulltag, versus vanilla Doom:

Black Shades

Well, as my first post here at the awesome #Doomsday blog, I offer you Black shades, a pretty fun game. Well, it's not so much a game, as a time waster, but it's fun nonetheless. You use WASD to move, Shift to run, and Space while running to tackle. Useful for knowcking down the VIP when he's about to get shot.
If you want to have some fun, (I. E. mess around) go into the config.txt and change the number below "show FPS and other info" number to one, which allows you to utilize the debug menu, allowing you to do more stuff in it.
It's available for Windows. Linux, And OSX. They've even released the source code, so (hopefully) there'll be more games like this.

Fantastic Contraption

I originally found out about this on Facepunch Studios and intended to blog it but I forgot, thank Nexx for reminding me.

Fantastic contraption is a simple flash physics game where you have to get the pink shape in to the goal area by building a contraption to move it there (Catapult it there, drive it there, push it there etc.) it starts off with simple obstacles like perhaps a gap and then moves on to more difficult things with the pink shape not even being in the construction area at times.

The game feels like some strange combination of Garry's Mod and The incredible machine and is fun even if the learning curve of the later levels is like running in to a brick wall, but hey it's challenging.

J-Rock song of the week #5

Roll up for the universe by Takui

OcRemix song of the Week.

I seriously doubt I'll make it past the first week of doing this, and, for that matter, I might do more than one a week. It'll all depend on my mood. I will also copy the description or a portion of the description of the song and paste it here to further let you know what it is. Most of these will probably be Doom related, sorry, but I might switch it up a bit, maybe you'll get Donkey Kong music. In any case, let's get this show on the road. Also, as a side note, if a song doesn't have a description, this means that the song is from one of the featured albums on OcRemix, and, Ill probably throw in a second song, just to make up for it.

Anyway, first song. It's not Doom... funnily enough, but it's a good one.

"This isn't gonna win any award for melodic interpretation, but there was a bit done there. More importantly, the approach was expansive and personalized to the hilt. It's pretty interesting how this has a dark tone like the source tune, but addition of stuff like the breakbeats and gated synths clearly don't give off the same lonely energy the original does. Nonetheless, still a very spacious, well produced mix. I'm feeling like this will get NOed for being too conservative, but the sum total of the changes felt substantive enough to me."

Kickass Board Games.

I really can't explain this one that much, you just have to take my word. This site offers a few games to play, all of which are simply amazing. Actually, maybe you've all heard of one of the games on the site. It's called Settlers of Catan. I'd explain how one plays the game, but my descriptions suck ass. So, I'll just link to it's Wikipedia Article. Settlers of Catan.

Sure, that only talks about the actual Board game, but the game, in Java form, no download required, only a simple registration, is on AsoBrain.

Of the games there, though, my personal favorite is Toulouse. The game is actually pretty simple. The players must place tiles which have various pictures on them, one of which is the front of a castle. The point of the game is to start the construction of Roads, Monastaries, Pastures, and Castles, then, place your players in them to claim them. Once one of the above is finished being built (By adding onto it using various differnt tiles) the player will gain points. Two of the tiles, though, one being a Monastary and one being a grassy piece of land, only award points to the players if they have tokens on them till the end of the game. there are three special tokens, one of which I have no idea how to use..it's just a larger verion of your player tokens. One looks like a tower, if placed in an incomplete castle that you own, when finished, you'll recieve double points. The other token is a pig, which, like the tower token, you place in a space occupied by one of your player tokens, the only difference, however, is you place the pigs in pastures rather than castles. At the end of the game, it will add up some random bonuses that you might've gotten along the way. The game also has Cloth, Barrels, and Lumber (I believe) and I have yet to figure out what those do. In the end, it's fun to see what wacky castles you all might've created.

P.S. Sorry if the description I gave for Toulouse was...erm..confusing. Also, as you can plainly see, I like Toulouse a little more than Settlers of Catan, why? because it's simpler, and don't get me wrong, Settlers of Catan is a freaking amazing game.
